2. What is the recommended dose regimen for Jorveza®?1

The recommended daily dose for induction therapy is 2 mg budesonide taken as one 1 mg tablet in the morning and one 1 mg tablet in the evening. Induction therapy typically lasts 6 weeks. This treatment period may be extended to 12 weeks for patients with inadequate response.

The recommended daily dose for maintenance of remission is 1 mg budesonide as one 0.5 mg tablet in the morning and one 0.5 mg tablet in the evening, or 2 mg budesonide as one 1 mg tablet in the morning and one 1 mg tablet in the evening, depending on the individual clinical requirement of the patient.

*The maintenance dose of 1.0 mg Jorveza® twice daily is recommended for patients with a long standing disease history and/or high extent of oesophageal inflammation in their acute disease state1
3. How should Jorveza® (budesonide) be taken?1

A.      Finish your meal
B.      Take Jorveza®
Jorveza® should be placed on the tip of the tongue and gently pressed against the roof of the mouth.
Jorveza® should not be chewed or swallowed undissolved as this will reduce its effectiveness. Some people may find the taste to be slightly bitter, but the bitter taste may go away after a few minutes.
Jorveza® usually dissolves within 2–5 minutes but it may take longer in some people. The dissolved material mixed with saliva should be swallowed little by little while this occurs. This ensures maximum uptake of the medication in the lining of the oesophagus where you need it.
Wait at least 30 minutes before:

•  eating

•  drinking

•  performing oral hygiene

•  using oral medications such as liquid sprays or chewable tablets

This is very important for the medication to be effective.
